But first, an introduction.
Band profiles, like the ones written up on the homepage, debuted on Sad Steve this past September. To date, Sad Steve users have streamed over 100K songs from these profiles, which is awesome. Each week more bands send in their music wanting to know how they can set up a profile. Slowly but surely, bands are realizing this could be, might be, the beginning of something really cool.
While the promotional abilities of Sad Steve band profiles are well-established, monetizing the traffic to these profiles has been difficult. Currently, bands with Sad Steve profiles only make money when users pay off their pledges to that band. Although 100% (less PayPal fees) of this pledge money is sent directly to the bands, users have been reluctant to pay for whatever reason.
The question remains: if bands are already stoked about the promotional aspects of Sad Steve, then why am I so interested in making money for bands? A few reasons:
1. If bands make money on Sad Steve, they'll send their fans to the Sad Steve site instead of competitors like MySpace or Facebook.
2. If I can go up to bands and say, "Put your stuff up on Sad Steve. Not only will you get good exposure, but you'll also make $40 per month," there is an added incentive (the cash, baby girl) for bands to create a nice profile. Plus, the $40 might be a deal breaker for more established bands who otherwise wouldn't waste their time with Sad Steve.
For these reasons, I'm going to begin soliciting advertisers for the Sad Steve site. Rather than interfacing with an ad exchange, where I would have no control over what ads get placed on the Sad Steve site, I plan on working directing with advertisers to artfully present their products to Sad Steve users.
If you are an advertiser and interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please send me an e-mail - there is no client too big or too small. You will be working with me and only me to leverage Sad Steve's unique audience and maximize the ROI of your digital portfolio. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully starting a dialogue.
Please e-mail info@sadsteve.com to inquire about advertising opportunities.
Thank you and good day. I SAID GOOD DAY!
