The following is a list of all music that has ever been posted on the 'good music' section of the homepage. Rediscover, baby!
In late 2001, Billy Corgan, lead singer and guitarist of The Smashing Pumpkins, joined forces with Jimmy Chamberlin (drummer of Smashing Pumpkins), Matt Sweeney, David Pajo, and Paz Lenchantin to form Zwan. Although the group released only one album, "Mary Star of The Sea," in 2003, the talent was clearly there. I find Zwan's sound mellow, upbeat, raw, and soothing, and interestingly, not mainstream. You won't find Zwan being pumped over a club's speakers or an entire gerneration grinding to the bass that over powers the lyrics.
In June 2003, differences within the band became apparent after they canceled most of their European tour. Dave Pajo left soon after to start a solo tour, and Paz Lenchantin joined him. In a interview in April, 2005 in the Chicago Tribune, Billy Corgan gave more insight on why Zwan disbanded: "The music wasn't the big problem, it was more their attitude...Sex acts between band members in public. People carrying drugs across borders. Pajo sleeping with the producer's girlfriend while we were making the record." Zwan did not last long, but its music is still being listened by fans new and old today. -BW
