iTunes can be a pain in the ass. Here's how to make it play nice with Sad Steve.
It's true - iTunes can be a fussy program, especially on PCs. A lot of peeps frequently write in with the same problem: iTunes was playing their Sad Steve tracks fine, but now, all of a sudden, the tracks won't play. "OMG, FREAK OUT!" Well help is here. Follow the steps outlined below to ensure that Sad Steve and iTunes jive like spaghetti and meatball.
When you download a song from Sad Steve, it will probably save to a place like your computer's desktop or a "Downloads" folder. To play it with iTunes, right-click on the song file and choose "Open With --> iTunes." The song has been imported to your iTunes library.

The song should start playing in iTunes. Great, so what's the problem? You see, most people (perhaps you) often clean up their Desktop or "Downloads" folder because it gets too cluttered. If you move or delete song files, then when iTunes goes to play the song later, it looks for the song at its original location (like the Desktop). But since you've actually moved the song to some new location, iTunes cannot find the song file. Hence, the song won't play. An error message such as "original file could not be found" often appears, as shown below.

The easiest way to fix this issue is to tell iTunes to create a copy of every song that it imports. This way, even if you move or delete the original downloaded song, iTunes will rely on its own, personal copy of the song file. The downside of this method is that you're essentially doubling the amount of your hard drive devoted to song files, since you're saving an extra copy of each song. But most people have plenty of unused disk space, so I'm not fretting the issue.
Here's how to set up iTunes to automatically create its own copy of all songs in your iTunes library.
- In iTunes, click the "Edit" tab.
- Click "Preferences."
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Check off "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library."
- Click "Ok."
Your setup should be good now - no danger of songs not playing. If you need to do more complicated things, consider looking at the original posts from Sad Steve users for some help.
